Diversity Working Group Representative (4 seats)
  • Representatives are elected from across the Schulich graduate student body
Cohort Representative (1 seat per cohort)
  • Each cohort from each masters program elects one cohort representative
Portfolio Representative (6 seats per cohort)
  • Each cohort from each masters program elects one portfolio representative per open portfolio
  • 6 portfolios are open for 2020-21
Part Time Representative (1 seat)
  • One representative is elected from all 'part-time' status students across the Schulich graduate student body

DIVERSITY WORKING GROUP REPRESENTATIVE (4 seats)

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Working Group Representatives will represent the master’s students interest and perspectives at the Working Group table. The Representative will work with the Working Group to develop concrete actions in the five priority areas:

  • Identify ways to create greater Black and Indigenous representation among our students, staff and faculty
  • Provide greater financial assistance and support to Black and Indigenous students
  • Integrate Black and Indigenous perspectives into our curriculum and learning
  • Strengthen our engagement with external stakeholders to overcome systemic anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism.
  • Foster a culture of active allyship with Black and Indigenous communities at Schulich.

Requirements & Details

  • Attends Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group meetings
  • Available for academic term until end of April 2020
  • May hold other GBC elected positions

Specialized Masters Representative (2 seats)

As part of this role, the Representative provide the perspective of Specialized Masters students on issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The representative will provide regular updates to the GBC Executive and the General Council, and work with these bodies to collect student feedback.

MBA Representative (2 seats)

As part of this role, the Representative provide the perspective of MBA students on issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The representative will provide regular updates to the GBC Executive and the General Council, and work with these bodies to collect student feedback.

PORTFOLIO REPRESENTATIVE

Up to six portfolio representatives are elected per cohort. One portfolio representative is elected per portfolio.

Requirements

  • Attendance at General Council meetings
  • Participate in portfolio activities

Academic

Be responsible for giving feedback on your courses, professors and the curriculum of your program. You will have the opportunity to engage in student issues and be heard, in an effort to improve the overall academic experience of all graduate students at Schulich.

Student Affairs

You will be the eyes and ears of GBC, and constantly gauge the sentiments of the student body. Together we will provide metrics and data points that will support all GBC portfolios, thus improving the student experience at Schulich.

Communications & Marketing

Responsible for the branding and positioning of Schulich’s study body and school initiatives. Representatives will support marketing activities and communication for the Graduate Business Council: including events, newsletter and digital campaigns. Join the team if you’re interested in working on internal and external communications and in helping package the Schulich Pride!

Social

Responsible for planning, executing and hosting all GBC social events and functions. The portfolio calendar consists of three major events (Schulympics, Culture Crawl & Spring Gala), as well as monthly smaller-scale events.

International

Collaborate with the IR team to make the international students' experience in Schulich even better. Some events might include the Culture Crawl, Campus and Downtown Tours and other events focused on the international community!

Wellness

Responsible for managing activities and events that promote mental health and overall wellbeing for graduate students at Schulich. Together we will organize the events of the Schulax Wellness Week (there’s one per semester), as well as other de-stress events throughout the year.

COHORT REPRESENTATIVE

One cohort representative is elected per cohort

Requirements

  • Mandatory attendance at Board of Directors meeting
  • Required to submit portfolio preferences upon being elected

The role of the Cohort representative is to advocate for the cohort and student body needs for the GBC at the “Board of Directors”. The Board will review governance of the Graduate Business Council constitution, review monthly financial statements and hold executives accountable throughout the academic year.

Cohort representatives will attend all Board meetings and contribute to General Council quorum. The reps will select their portfolios upon being elected.

PART-TIME REPRESENTATIVE

One Part-Time Representative is elected to represent all part-time students.

  • Reports to Student Affairs Director

Part Time Representative

Responsible for representing the concerns of part-time graduate students in their respective programs/cohorts. They will be engaged to recommend, plan, and promote events specifically for part-time students, as well as involved in promoting all GBC programming to their respective programs/cohorts.
