This workshop will focus on how to properly sit on a chair for long periods of time by diving into the structure of the spine and its surrounding muscles. Jelena will also share some exercises to alleviate neck and back pain as well as strengthen these muscles to prevent injury. The workshop will finish off with a demonstration of a 5-minute sequence that can be used for in-between screen-time, and lots of time for Q&A!
Jelena's Bio:
Jelena graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor degree in Medical Science and a Master's degree in Physiology and Pharmacology before pursuing her Master's of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. After completing her research degree, Jelena wanted to use her research skills in a clinical setting. As an active individual who has a passion for nutrition and fitness, physiotherapy quickly became the career path that allowed her to combine all of her interests. Jelena has completed her certification as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and is working towards increasing her manual therapy skills by attaining her Advanced Diploma of Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. She also has continued interests in pursuing courses in the pelvic health levels.
Jelena has gained experience with patients in a variety of clinical settings ranging from geriatrics to athletes. Her treatment philosophy is focused on using manual therapy to optimize joint mobility, and evidence-based exercise prescription to create control and strength. Her focus is on educating and empowering her clients to take control of their health and to work as a team to achieve their goals.
In her spare time, you will find Jelena at the gym, or in the kitchen trying a new healthy recipe. She is working on building an online coaching business where she hopes to help individuals reach their personal fitness goals!
